You see Million Dollar Quartet is a musical that was based around a jam session that occurred at Sun Studios in Memphis on December 4th 1956. The people that were present at Sun Studios at the time were Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis so a cornucopia of 50's music was involved. Two great hours of great singing, dancing and playing of memorable songs followed and at least one of our party knew every one!!!! A good time was had by all.
And yes Elvis had left the building...and the Man in Black (or in this case - white) had gone as well.
But they weren't quite quick enough to escape these groupies!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time for one last drink and goodbye to Flick who was heading off on other adventures. We braved almost continuous Chicago roadworks and rush hour traffic and headed home to the comfortable Days Inn. Rest is good!
Heading to US Cellular Field and the Chicago White Sox didn't have quite the same ring as watching the Cubs at Wrigley Field but we had a great day, watched the home team win and did get to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"!
And we now have some white Sox buddies, including one "Bo" who has been a Sox regular for 60 years!
Left the stadium with "Sweet Home Chicago" ringing in our ears and headed back to the northside to search for food and music.
Enjoyed a very tasty Mexican meal served by super friendly waiters at Las Fuentes
before making our way to the most unlikely looking Blues venue we've seen!
Kingston Mines might not look like much from the outside but as they say looks deceive. And in this case they've been deceiving for more than 46 years!
