Diamond Head, Pearl Harbour to the legendary North Coast of Oahu

After missing out on the climb to Diamond Head http://www.hawaiistateparks.org/parks/oahu/Index.cfm?park_id=15 due to being too late to make the  closing time the previous day the team of climbers who were selected to go for the summit were up and away bright and early. They were rewarded for their efforts!!!

The early start meant that the climbers were home for a quick breakfast and a final check of the room and we said farewell to Niu St and farewell to Waikiki (for this time). Next stop Dollar Rent a Car where we were hoping  our car would BE A JEEP or maybe a truck!!!! However we were given a brand new Dodge Journey which fitted us and our luggage which is all we really needed. The Educator took the wheel and we headed toward Pearl Harbour. By now Mrs G (our faithful Garmin) was installed and giving the orders!!

and before long we were making the choices of what we could see at such an important site.
Having made a booking for the tour of the USS Arizona Memorial we set off on the free bus for the tour of the USS Missouri. The "Mighty Mo" tour was fabulous for the Apiarist who had chosen to use the wheelchair to conserve energy as he was able to see many parts of this immense ship.

After staying and exploring for more than an hour we returned to the Pearl Harbour site where we learned that the tour of the USS Arizona had been cancelled due to the weather. Although disappointed we did understand the significance of the site and the importance of it's fragility and preservation. Took one last look around the Memorial

and we headed towards what will be our home for the next 4 nights..Well we were almost there...

Finally we arrived at 59-658 Kamehameha Highway, Haleiwa, HI and relaxed, looked at the view from the deck and rehydrated after another very busy day!!!!!!
