It all starts with a plan......
And just what is the plan?
That is a very good question!!!
Here's a kinda, sorta brief outline of the four trips that make up the one journey!
Trip #1 starts with a warm up in Hawaii while we attend wedding (#1). This is a good choice since our hemisphere is experiencing winter and even in Paradise (Narooma, NSW) it does get a little cooler. The apiarist even eschews his favoured shorts & t shirt and dons long pants, flanno and the occasional jumper (sweater/ pullover/ hoody). We even get to light the fire!!!
The reason for Hawaii was that the Frost's had been invited to the wedding of our former across the road neighbour Louise and her Canadian fiance Matt. Maui was the venue of choice for the nuptial agreement. And as it was a place that neither the Apiarist or the Educator had experienced gave an added to the reason for a trip.
Trip # 2. Having decided that we were going to the USA we were aware that we had to cope with the customs and border control that is part of entering the country we thought that we may as well spend at least a bit more time in the United States and that we could do some more road tripping at least through the Rocky Mountains and parts of the west coast that are new to us. We looked at one of our favourite travel websites http://www.roadtripusa.com/ Road Trip USA was the source of a great trip in 2012 and this trip is a composite of Road Trips #11, #2, #9, #1, #8, # 2 & #7. Well we're not following the routes religiously but we're looking forward to some deserts, some mountains, some coast etc.
After travelling through California and Nevada we're going to travel through Utah, California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Idaho then British Columbia. While we're in BC we'll attend wedding # 2. Ken & Cathy will be the happy couple celebrating this time. Again the setting will be exquisite. Shawnigan Lake!!!
Nuptials #2 over and in the unforgettable words of Willie Nelson "It's on the road again"! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5v9-InvDwMw This time we're heading to the familiar and friendly Muskoka region. But before we get there we're looking forward to adventures in Washington, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, then Ontario and we're back to Gravenhurst!!
Now as nice as Gravenhurst and all the Gravenhurstians are we can't stay there (one of us has work to do) and after a week or so we're humming Willie's song again, off to Chicago before joining the road that John Steinbeck called "the Mother Road", Route 66. This will see us travel through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and finally California!!!
What a trip! Oh and don't worry there will be plenty more of the blog over the next 10 weeks!!!
